June 4 (Friday): Florida Yards & Neighborhoods; Creating Your Florida Yard
Jo Hanson, Master Gardener Yard Advisor
When we landscape our yards, we make a lot of personal decisions but it is important to realize that our choices also affect the environment. This program will help you create a Florida Yard that fits the needs of the homeowner, enhances the community, and is friendly to the Florida environment.

July 2 (Friday): Florida Snakes

Some people are uneasy when any type of snake--poisonous or not--is nearby or inside a dwelling, however, only six of the 44 species of snakes native to Florida are venomous. This program will introduce the common native snakes that are found in our area. Identification, harmful/harmless characteristics, and how to manage snake encounters will be discussed.

August 6 (Friday): Butterfly Gardening
Angela Antonucci, Florida Yards & Neighborhoods Homeowner Program Coordinator
This program will address what you can do to your backyard to attract butterflies, including planting specific plants as sources of food and cover for adult and larvae butterflies.

Sept. 3 (Friday): Trees in the Landscape
Annemarie Post, Extension Agent, Environmental Horticulture
A tree canopy provides shade and wildlife habitat and also helps to reduce stormwater runoff. In addition, trees also significantly increase the value of homes and properties. This program will explore the benefits of trees in the landscape, tree selection, proper tree maintenance, and existing local tree ordinances.

October 1 (Friday): Landscaping for Birds
Annemarie Post, Extension Agent, Environmental Horticulture

Nov. 5 (Friday): Creating Wildlife Habitat In and Around Urban Ponds
